THE Situation

The situation is amazingly thin at under 6mm. This is actually the thinnest mechanical watch I’ve seen so it’s made quite an impact on me. As soon as I required it from the presentation situation, I understood from the feeling and search this would be a luxurious timepiece.

It's not only pretty thin at its thickest point, it has highly angled sides from the situation to really make it feel and look even thinner.

The situation is extremely polished and superbly machined. it is actually an excellent situation when it comes to manufacture. The angles, lugs and contours throughout are sensational and appear very stylish and Bauhaus.
Epos Originale 3408 Watch Review
There exists a small onion formed push-pull crown, an unpredicted shape however it works very well and appears perfect in my experience. Most significantly, it’s really simple to use as you’d be winding up every 2 days.

The caseback is guaranteed in position by way of 4 screws, and appears wafer-thin producing a great look at the movement: it appears as though it’s literally immediately. The exhibition window is encircled by engraved watch specifics.

The situation is ultimately a triumph. Obviously, just shy of £1000 I’d expect anything. However the feel, fit and finished from the it is extremely sublime.

THE DIAL

The dial is simplicity moving only precisely what it takes. I’d prefer to stay away from the term “minimalist”, however the Epos holds true towards the word.

The primary complication / feature from the dial may be the blue sunray effect base, with another sunray inside the small seconds hands. The color is really a classy fast, which two separate entities operate in tandem once the light hits it right.

The applied indexes / hour markers are pretty straight forward enough but done perfectly: polished batons which are appear top quality because of their thickness. That which you don’t initially notice is the fact that these possess a gentle arc for them, demonstrating in my experience close focus on detail. These vary - a dual at 12 although others are single, and longer indexes at 12, 3, 6 and 9.

Both your hands are pitched a small amount, and although you cannot really tell by searching their way, it will really make a difference towards the glare they produce. Straight batons having a small pointed tip both your hands are elegant, suitably sized and supply a great studying experience.

The important seconds hands is situated at 6, within it’s own subdial that’s inset inside the primary dial. For any watch so thin, I believe it’s a remarkable task introducing some depth towards the dial. The seconds hands is of comparable style towards the primary hands. What’s also doubly impressive is when the subdial comes with an incredibly gentle concentric circular pattern into it: I’m speaking one so subtle it’s difficult to see using the human eye alone. Interesting degree of focus on detail.

The printing over the dial truly is minimal restricted to only the emblem within the top half, Swiss Made in the feet from the dial, and subtle 5 second interval markers inside the subdial.

The dial in general is elegant and charming very easy and great.

THE STRAP

The strap around the Epos Originale 3408 is reputable leather and it is an attractive matte black. I am not too interested in a elegant patent leather, so I’m pleased to begin to see the finish used here.

The leather is superbly supple and soft. It's very streamlined to complement the skinny profile situation, but simultaneously it doesn’t feel flimsy or cheap. The strap rocks a crocodile print pattern embossed on top that we feel matches the look of the timepiece well.

The tang buckle is fully polished, using the emblem engraved on top bar. I'm this engraving might have been just a little much deeper.

The strap does a great job of maintaining an appropriate put on, which is a primary reason the Epos feels so great around the wrist.

THE MOVEMENT

The movement powering the Epos Originale 3408 is mentioned is the Peseux 7001 within the specs. Peseux were bought by ETA same with now technically the ETA 7001 - and also the ETA emblem proves that.

This can be a perfectly known and frequently-used movement. It are available in highly considered watches by Stowa, Junghans, Baume & Mercier, Tissot and Blancpain to mention a couple of. It’s hands wind only, therefore, the epic thinness of the mere 2.5mm. It runs at 21.6k bph (or 6 ticks per second) and it is classed like a “top grade” movement that being slightly greater quality than normal with extra decoration.

It truly does look lovely too - the Geneva stripes and pearlage around the bridges are extremely pleasing towards the eye, much like the blued screws. There’s one small factor that I’ve observed, however - and that's this the emblem is upside lower once the watch takes place upright.
